Unexpected Break

Hi my dear friends, how are you? I would love to know! Actually, I would love to interact with you guys through a vlog, so how bout if you have any questions that you'd like to ask me, pretty much anything goes---ask in a comment and I'll put together a video and answer them:)

I guess I took a little break for just about a week, didn't I!? Sorry bout that--I took a last minute trip to Michigan to go visit my Mother-In-Law. My Father in law is in Africa for two months, plus I knew Nells was well on his way in his recovery, so I felt pretty comfortable leaving for a few days.

The other reason I went is because Kay wants to be a part of Madelynn's graduation party (next year) in some way-- she wants to contribute somehow, and the best way for her to usually contribute? Her amazing sewing skills! So I went to learn how to sew, and we made banners galore for 4 days straight! (This was the only chance we had to make the party decorations because we live so far apart, that's why we did it so early.)

Let me tell you something, I am no cutter. I do not like cutting. I am an awful cutter. I am clumsy. I have no patience for cutting. But I cut and cut and cut for days, and my patience started to grow. I became a better cutter, and I decided to become friends with the scissors. We are tight now LOL

I have always had the desire to sew, but never the passion to learn.

Now I have both!

I picked out all the fabrics--Kay has her own collections in her amazing sewing space.

By the time I left, I felt very comfortable on her machine--now the idea is for me to take some classes and get comfortable on my machine! Oh I hope I can do it! It felt so good to be able to do this--I am so very proud!

And because I worked so hard, Kay let me pick out whatever material I wanted in her collection and I made myself a banner!

Also, she has this crazy collection of Bias Tape, ever heard of it!? It's all vintage and simply beautiful!!! The colors and textures were amazing. I had never heard of it, but when she showed it to me, I went crazy over it!

We went to a Tea house one afternoon, and it was simply divine! We had chicken pot pie in the most amazing crust, and I had Raspberry Tea. We also had a cute Strawberry Shortcake dessert, but I lost the photo of it :(

Kay ended up with the February tea cup, which happens to be her birthday month.

It was delicious food, tea, and conversation.

We also got some sun time in, it felt so so good--I knew summer was officially here when I'd be brave enough to put my suit on :o

I think I need more sun and pool time in my days.

We had dinner out one night with my brother in law and his wife.

The icing on the cake? A guy asking me to take his seat in first class so he could sit with his wife in coach--kid you not! He had a first class ticket and his sick wife did not, so I happen to have the seat he wanted--I thought I was being punked--I asked if Ashton Kutcher was on the flight! I was seriously confused--stunned that it would be that easy to score a seat in first class--unreal. It was lovely I tell ya.

I wish I had ordered a bailey's and coffee or something but I didn't even think about it until my best friend asked me if I did; oh well, next time (hahahaha).

I was very happy to see this little guy when I got home---and he was equally happy to see me I think!

I was not getting past him-he was certainly not wanting me to leave again. Awh!

Thanks for being patient with me while I was away. I think it was good for me--it felt good to be unplugged for several days, especially to learn a lifelong skill. Oh, we also made jewelry and I inherited some precious things from the family--I'll share those another time.

Now don't forget, ask away in the comments and I'll put a video together!

See you soon~

Oh it sounds like you had a wonderful time! I had been praying for you.

I wish I had a desire to sew. I know how to use a sewing machine and I know what I'm doing, but I just don't like it! I dread whenever I have to hem something, (which is often being only 5'1.5") so usually I convince my mom to do it.

Hope you are doing well this week!

Glad you had such a nice break Gina, and what a blessing to learn a new skill! I never want to stop learning, I think that is what keeps us young :)

My questions may be a little traditional but hey that's me...
Where did you grow up?
How did you meet your husband?

Have a great week!

wow! i have never flown on an airplane! lucky you!

i love making banners, but have not sewn any yet! banners are so addicting! sewing is fun. i took a class over 10 yrs ago... i want to learn how to put in zippers... yikes!
Did you post a picture of the banner you made for yourself? That looks like a lot of fun! I feel your pain with the cutting thing. I can't cut a straight line if my life depended on it. Whenever I have to cut something out I just say I like to make things look rustic.
i totally want to learn how to sew too!! I need someone to sit next to me and show me how though.

so awesome about first class! what a treat!

We missed you!

Here is my question- I'm 27 and not at all where I thought I would be in life. Where were you at 27, where did you hope to be, and how is life now compared to then? (And any advice for us 27 year olds?)

My question: what made you decide to start blogging?

Did you know that you brighton my world daily through IG blogging and email? Where do you buy your ladylike wardrobe? What is your favorite food? What is your favorite dessert? Color? Music group /band? Bible verse?

What lovely pictures! I'm glad you got to spend a week away. I'm just learning how to sew...it can be super frustrating at times, but I really want to keep at it. My goal is to one day make a quilt!

I can't wait to see the finished banners. I bet they are going to be amazing!

Happy weekend!

Oh, and a question: What are your favorite hobbies?
