this week. . .

a poem by gina l.norman

this week, when i rise, i'll make
my bed so i can enjoy my vintage heirloom quilts. . .

or if i am unable, that's
ok too, i accept where i'm at

this week, i'll open my bible
and continue reading in the gospel
of matthew--chapters 5-7 are golden,

although if it doesn't happen, i'll fall
into the hands of grace, because i
don't live by religion or rules

this week i will pack lunches for madelynn every single day and bake a beautiful zesty lasagna for dinner with cheese that bubbles til it's crustiness is perfected,

but if i just can't accomplish this, i'll still accept that i'm a good wife and mother.

this week, i will speak gently to my loved
ones and ask them how i can meet their
needs,

but if i fall short, i know they will
forgive me and i will not beat myself up
over it.
source

this week, as i approach a new day,
i will think about others, and reach
out to a stranger or two and ask
them how their day is going. . .

but if for some reason i fail at
doing this, i will plan on it next week. . .
source

this week, next week--i'm a work in progress and the journey embarked upon is perfectly flawed.
but hey my heart and soul are in it and i'm not givin up. because all i have seen teaches me to trust my creator for all i have not seen.

oh how in love I am with vintage quilts. I want one so genuinely bad but can never find any- I know we had some in our family somewhere but amongst those who didn't care they were probably sold once they passed away. so sad :( I love this post though- beautiful as always.

We should face each week with goals, even if we don't accomplish everything, we still tried!

& Your vintage quilts are so beautiful... Love those colors!

Have a good week! :)

Vintage quilts are amazing! One of the first things that my boyfriend told me was that there is no failure, only progress. :-)

This was quiet and brilliant. Love it.

And, oh, LOVE the quilts!
beautiful...I think we so often are so hard on ourselves. Sometimes extending grace to "me" is the most difficult.

you are beautiful, inside and out..my friend =) love this.
It would be hard to have such a change in what you can do. Christ's atonement didn't cover just our sins, but also our struggles, our pains, and our weaknesses. It's hard to remember that sometimes, but you have such a beautiful perspective.

Beautiful poem and photos Gina!
This post is so beautiful! Love it! We all try to live perfect and loving, and yet we fail on a daily basis. I love your view on grace and the stumbling yet trying again and again. :)

I needed to hear this, thank you. I struggle alot with loving myself and allowing my flaws and short comings to happen without beating myself over it.

Oh, thanks for asking about my garden! It's doing great! I actually just posted something about it if you would like to check it out :)

all we can do is trust.

you make me smile!
The greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.
