Around Here
We have got a lot going on, I guess I didn't prepare my self for how busy the end of the school year is, how could I forget this!? And my Mother-In-Law is in town, hence the lack of posts this week--sorry dear friends!
I so have missed blogging this week, truly; so I thought I'd share a few things that we've been up to.
After Chicago, I barely had a day to rest or even catch my breath when I got home when we drove 3 hours north to stay at a fancy resort for a night. Just my husband and I--he was asked to be a keynote speaker at a conference there about social media and they put us up in a gorgeous cabin 10 feet away from a beautiful, calm, clear lake full of Loons! {If you didn't know, the Loon is Minnesota's state bird}. We arrived early Monday afternoon so we could make the most of it, and let me tell you, we did. It was so relaxing, and quiet, and such a peaceful night, at 65 degrees or so. We had a nice dinner and dessert, walked around the resort a bit, watched the sunset, and then headed back into our cabin. Oh the rippling of the water and the sound of the Loons was enough for me to have a heart attack because of the beauty! I appreciated and really cherished every.single.minute.
Then when we returned and picked up my my Mother-In-Law at the airport, and we've been pretty busy ever since. The first night we took her to Schaar's Bluff which is just minutes from our house, and has beautiful views of the Mississippi, and we took a short walk and a few pictures.
Tonight, my daughter was asked to speak at a charity event at school for homelessness, and also sang in the choir. I was so proud of her, she's a really great public speaker.
Man this girl makes me proud. To see your children come into their own with the foundation that we are so privileged to give them, is truly an incredibly beautiful, gratifying, exciting, cherished, honorable thing. This girl never seizes to amaze me at all she has her hands in, and I glow at each and every event, competition, play, concert, recital, prom, etc. I see her in/at. She really has done my heart well and I look forward to seeing her become more of the woman she is meant to be.
Tomorrow night she has a dance competition, she is in Jazz, and Lyrical this year. Here are a few pictures from her competition a couple of weeks ago:
Here are a few other things we've been doing:
You got it... I am finally learning to embroider!! I have had this kit for about 2 years; thank you Kay Norman!
I feel so Jane Austen-ish.
We made corn bread muffins, a frittata and gabbed our brains out {We see her maybe twice a year}. She went to Rehab with me today, we did some shopping, got some frozen yogurt and an iced coffee {her first ever}. . .
We have played Monopoly Deal and Boggle, did some show & tell, and laughed and teared.
We still plan on meeting my Mom for breakfast one morning, going to church, watching Temple Grandin and doing some alterations on a few of my clothes. Oh, and if there's time, she's going to take me to the fabric store so I can pick out a few things for her to make me. She's an expert behind the sewing machine, and I reap the rewards.
It's been a sweet visit so far and I'm looking forward to more gabbing, more coffee and more cooking & baking together, it's been a treat.
The countdown for the end of this year has officially begun; Show Choir is over! And this weekend is the last dance competition; she's in the school musical next weekend, and then just a few things {well several several things} to wrap up the rest of Junior year. I don't mean to be wishing it away, I need to remember that last year is her last. It's just so chaotic at the end of the school year, I am looking forward to a breather!
Have a good weekend everyone, I hope you are all doing well, if you aren't or if you are, send me an email, I would be honored to pray for you and yours. {I am still looking for a unique way to "honor" or give a shout out to my readers but no one is cooperating, BAAAHHHH, you stinkers!!! LOL} Haha it's ok, I understand! I'm just teasing you:)
You can also find me here today, a piece I really think many of you will find relevant.
Peace.

She's on the far right.
I feel so Jane Austen-ish.

Have a great weekend lovely friend. xo

I wish I had such a wonderful relationship with my mother-in-law. It sounds like you had a blast with her.
I love embroidering! As a teen I did a whole weeks set of tea towels. You can tell which ones I started with and which ones I finished with. My technique improved over the years. I started another set not too long ago, but have kind of forgotten about that. You've inspired me to search for them and give it a try again.
